Spring has just arrived and many cities are already seeing an upswing in crime. Just in the past week, in New York, four people were shot and 54 people were arrested in Times Square. In Chicago 41 people were shot in a 50 hour period. In Trenton, five men were charged in the rape of a seven-year-old girl. In Washington D.C., four men were killed in a drive-by just blocks from where President Obama and his family would celebrate Easter. Most of these incidents involved young men of color from inner city neighborhoods.
