A mix-up at a Cleveland day care started when a child was sent home with the wrong family.

The incident happened at the Fatima Family Center, at 6600 Lexington Avenue, Thursday afternoon.

Cleveland Police Sgt. Sammy Morris said a grandfather went to pick up his 3-year-old grandson at the day care and an employee gave the man the wrong child.

The day care didn’t realize the mistake until the mother of the child came to pick up her son, police said. That’s when they contacted Cleveland police, but at that time the grandfather was on his way back to the day care with the wrong child.

No criminal charges have been filed at this time.

The Fatima Family Center is run by the Cleveland Catholic Charities
