Pastor Shirley Caesar announced last week that she has re-signed with her long time label home, Light Records. Her announcement comes hot off the heels of her earning two Dove Award nominations this year for her 2010 hit CD, A City Called Heaven. The CD was nominated for Traditional Gospel Album of the Year and the single “Favor” was nominated for Traditional Gospel Recorded Song of the Year.
After over 40 years, countless awards and nominations, Pastor Shirley continues to be the benchmark for Gospel music. Recognizing her contributions to Gospel music, she was recently honored by BMI receiving the 2011 BMI Trailblazers Award. The tribute included soul-stirring and rousing performances by Beverly Crawford, Lucinda Moore, Ledisi and an unforgettable song by Kim Burrell
