Per press release: Bishop Chandler David Owens, 79, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2011 in Atlanta, Georgia. The internationally recognized leader, Bishop Owens served as Jurisdictional Prelate from 1992-2011.
Born in Birmingham, Alabama on October 2, 1931, Bishop Owens started preaching as a young child; his ministry spanned more than seven decades. He was a lifelong member of the church, traveled globally and ministered in practically every state in America.
He pastored the Greater Community Church of God In Christ in Marietta, Georgia for 19 years. Bishop Owens was an active supporter of the community.
He leaves to mourn, his wife, Mrs. Shirley Owens and three children, Chandler David II, Chandra Stephanie and Shirilitha Jeanette (deceased). He is the proud and loving grandfather of seven grandchildren.
