Ohio State officials have released the e-mail exchanges between football coach Jim Tressel and a local attorney who alerted Tressel to player’s selling team memorabilia in exchange for tattoos.

The e-mail chain, which includes messages from April and June of 2010, details information about current Ohio State players being involved with the owner of Fine Line Ink, Edward Rife, who was the target of a criminal drug trafficking investigation.

The players had no role in the drug trafficking case, but during the investigation federal authorities discovered that Rife had Ohio State memorabilia from the players. The attorney informed Tressel about the players selling Rife championship rings and other team gear, and Tressel responded with concern.
