Grammy Award winner, minister and Gospel singer, Donnie McClurkin will soon be heading for Zimbabwe for a show to be held at the Glamis Stadium at Harare Showgrounds on April 2.

“His performance comes during the EWOM’s third annual event – ‘Call to Worship’ – an event that will begin on April 1, a day before the concert at Rainbow Towers,” said the concert organiser, Pastor Philip Pike.

The following day, April 2, McClukin with a 16-member band and singers will take the stage, together with supporting local gospel artists such as the Call to Worship Choir, Shower Power and Covenant Praise Choir.

Divine Concert Promotions are billed to bring the gospel concert of the year, directed by David and Sharon Mwale working in partnership with Bernie Bismark.

Known worldwide as the tall raspy tenor who commands attention with his powerful and rich sounding vocals, McClurkin has proven that he is far more than just a Gospel singer.

The man behind the platinum and gold selling CDs is an amazing songwriter who has penned chart topping tunes like, “Stand” and “We Fall Down,” and has also worn the hat of producer on some of his projects.

His knack for producing songs that others can identify with and serving them up with a compelling vocal mastery has helped McClurkin to carve out a spot in the hearts of millions.

He always knew that singing was just one of the gifts that he could use as a platform to crossover to another arena in the business.

His long-time vision of starting a record label became a reality when he launched CamDon Records in 2010.

Grooming new up and coming artists has always been his vision and he has the ability to identify great talent. McClurkin was honoured at both the 15th Annual Trumpet Awards and the NARAS Recording Academy – NY Chapter.

He performed at the star-studded “Dream Concert” held at Radio City Music Hall, fundraiser for Dr Martin Luther King’s monument in Washington DC.

In addition to the Dove, BET, Soul Train and NAACP Image Awards, the singer walked away with another Grammy Award for Best Gospel Performance for the

single, “Wait on the Lord”, taking his tally of Grammys to three.

His visit to Zimbabwe will certainly take Gospel music to another level.
