Northeast Ohio will celebrate the nation’s birthday with a little less bang this year. Because of tighter budgets, annual fireworks have fizzled out in several communities, including Parma, Parma Heights, Euclid, Garfield Heights and Elyria. But others will stage fireworks, parades, concerts and other tributes to America’s independence over the next few days. Many of the celebrations depend on weather, and some have makeup dates. With July 4 falling on a Sunday, most public agencies will be closed on Monday, July 5. Cleveland City Hall will close both Monday July 5 and Friday July 2, the latter as a furlough day. Here is a sampling of events in honor of America’s 234th birthday:
