LeBron James will now go to the Miami Heat to join Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. He made his announcement during an hour-long show on ESPN Thursday night called “The Decision.”

ESPN had reported earlier in the day that inside sources indicated LeBron would, in fact, end up in Miami.

“When I woke up this morning, I knew it was the right decision… I know how loyal I am. One thing my mother told me is you have to do what’s best for you and what makes you happy,” LeBron said.

With three big players all under one roof, LeBron will take a salary hit, compared to what he made in Cleveland. Since Wade and Bosh have yet to sign contracts, waiting for LeBron’s decision, the exact amounts split between them is still unknown.

As Akron-born LeBron leaves the town that crowned him the King, but didn’t get him a ring, Cleveland’s future is uncertain. Where will this rank on the top Cleveland sports heartbreaks among The Fumble, The Drive, Red Right 88 and Art Modell’s move?

“It’s been heavy on me. I know a lot of people look up to me and I know what I’ve done for the city of Cleveland,” James said.
