According to Multichannel News, the fourth season debut of BET’s gospel music competition Sunday Best generated a record 1.8 million viewers Sunday.
The series, which searches for the best new gospel performer, generated a 1.8 million rating for both its 8 p.m. debut and a second episode at 9 p.m. show, according to Nielsen. That was up from the 1.1 million viewers that tuned into Sunday Best’s season three debut in April 2010, the network said.
The Sunday Best season four premiere telecasts posted double-digit time slot gains compared to a year ago, up 78% and 74% respectively, and is now the second most-watched non-scripted BET original series telecasts of 2011 among viewers, the network said.
The top 20 finalists were chosen during the auditions so next week should be fun.
