Yolanda Adams received a lifetime achievement award at the Urban League Guild of Metropolitan St. Louis Salute to Women in Leadership Gala.Yolanda Adams was honored along with singer Freda Payne and fourteen other women from St. Louis and around the nation who was celebrated for their professional and community endeavors.
Adams remarks were of encouragement for the women she shared the evening with – and of gratitude to those who made the night possible.
“You all are here – giving up your time, money and talent,” Adams said. “And all of the beautiful women whose work was honored before Ms. Freda and I, man, the work that you all do on a daily basis – you change the world…one child, one invention, one smile at a time.”
She continued,
“We are born to serve,” Adams said. “Those of us in the room who understand service, we are the richest ones. Once you give, God is obligated to give back to you in good measure, pressed down, shaken together and runneth over.”
