Kim Fields, her husband, Christopher Morgan, and their two sons, were honored by Congresswoman Frederica Wilson’s 5,000 Role Models Foundation its annual Dr. Martin Luther King Unity Scholarship Breakfast at Jungle Island in Miami, Florida. Though this was the 22ndth annual event hosted by Congresswoman Wilson, it is the first time that she honored a family unit for the positive image that it reflects in the African American community. Currently starring on The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Fields met Congresswoman Wilson during a recent taping of the show, when the cast traveled to Washington, D.C. for the 20th Anniversary of the Million Man March. Parks, who was also honored with the 5,000 Role Models Trailblazers Award, introduced Fields and Congresswoman Wilson – who was immediately struck by the pride they showed as well as their warmth and closeness, and wanted to include them in her upcoming event. Kim Fields says: “This was such a blessing for my family to experience together. I cherish my husband and my sons and thank God for them. This was an especially proud moment for me, to be able to celebrate what an incredible role model and example of strength, truth, wisdom, faith and love Chris is to our sons. God is at the center of our marriage and our family, and I am happy that we exude this strength and total commitment to one another when we are together. We appreciate Congresswoman Wilson and her entire staff not only for acknowledging us and our boys, but for the work they are doing to elevate the African American community one young man at a time.
