The Bible states that our children will be like olive plants around our table. I wondered why God would use an olive plant to describe children. I began researching olive plants and found that they are rare plants that can grow well in coastal climate environments, such as the Mediterranean, South Africa, Australia and some parts of California.

Our children today are very busy trying to fit into someone else’s armor—to fit in with the kings of our society and try to pass themselves off as someone other than the unique and special person that God made. How do we reach our children so that they could have the courage David did? If a rock star was offering his clothes, his lifestyle, and his friends to a young person face to face, how many do you think would have the courage to say, “No thanks, that just doesn’t fit me.”

Unity in the family of God is of utmost importance to our Heavenly Father. His heart’s desire is that we be one; love each other, encourage each other, fellowship and that we come to each other’s aid. By doing these things, we become a stronger, more powerful entity in this earth realm. Only through unity can we really rule, reign, and advance in the will of God.
