If  you’re not already up on Life Music, the new album from Jonathan McReynolds, you’re missing out. Yeah, I said it. Click here for my review and to grab it.

With tunes as good as he’s got, I recently caught up with Jonathan to talk about the music that’s influencing him. He shared what’s on his current playlist, and I even tossed a few throwback tunes his way, to see if he really knew his stuff. He does.

Check out Jonathan McReynolds’ playlist!

Jesus Culture | “How He Loves”

I was stretched out on all three seats on a red-eye flight, crying, the first time I heard this song. So pure, so genuine.

Lecrae | “New Reality”“Cold water we drink, hot water we cook…lukewarm does nothing, just sits and it looks…” CRAZY! I love Lecrae. “Rehab” stayed in my car for months. And people say we look an awful lot alike.

srael Houghton | “Power of One”

One of those songs that are in multiple playlists. Worship, morning mix, in flight mix, chill mix, favorites mix. Israel is one of my favorite artists period.

Kirk Whalum | “He’s Been Just That Good”

One of the craziest musicians in the land, and then put Lalah Hathaway on it…shut…down. Multiple playlist winner as well.

Smokie Norful | “In the Middle”

Smokie is…just Smokie. I listened to this song everyday for years. Great production, great lyrics. Not to mention he’s in Chicago too! Well…close.

William McDowell | “Won’t Go Back”

The first time I ever heard this song, I thought, even in its simplicity, it was one of the most well-written songs on gospel radio. He seems like such an authentic worshipper and a great guy, and the song is so relevant and universal for Christians (especially new ones). #TeamLight

Natasha Bedingfield | “Recover”

Sure, it’s not Christian music. But if you listen to this song, I promise you will hear what I hear. “All those fires we’ve been walking through, and still we survived somehow, we will recover…”
