It has been a tumultuous year for Sherri Shepherd. The comedienne and actress left The View after seven years as a co-host and joined the cast of Cinderella on Broadway, all while going through a very public divorce from her ex-husband of three years, Lamar Sally. But in the midst of it all, she has managed to maintain her sense of humor and a positive vision for her future. In a recent interview on The Queen Latifah Show, Shepherd opened up about how she’s adjusting to her new single life.

“As long as you can get up and stand up, it’s another chance to get things right. And I’m doing really well,” Shepherd told Queen Latifah. “Now if he (Lamar Sally) would stop talking about it in public I would be doing better. But I’m doing great. I’m moving. I’m grooving. Everything is good.”

Latifah asked Shepherd when she knew it was time to let go of her marriage. She revealed that her decision was for the sake of her son and her own wellbeing. “When your physical wellbeing is [threatened] and I think when your emotional well-being is threatened,” she said. “For me, I have a 9-year-old son who can’t afford to see me laid out on the floor having a nervous breakdown, because I live and everything I do is for Jeffrey.”
