LOCAL NEWS: Several Couples to Marry at First Night Akron

AKRON, Ohio – Talk about ringing in the new year with a bang. Several local couples will tie the knot, with fireworks exploding overhead, at the stroke of midnight on New Year’s Eve in downtown Akron.

First Night Akron, celebrating its 16th year, is organizing a mass wedding.

More than 30 couples are participating. Most of them are renewing their vows, but at least six of the engaged couples are getting married in front of thousands of people.

SURPRISING NEWS: Educated Blacks More Likely To Marry Whites

The more education African-Americans have, the more likely they are to marry white people, a new study conducted by the Journal of Marriage and Family suggests.

The study claims that an increasing number of college-educated Black people marry outside their race because they have more interactions with those of other races while attending college.
