One day after the city announced two new programs aimed at reducing gun violence, law enforcement officers fanned out in an orchestrated sweep that led to several arrests.
the sweep involved the U.S. Marshals and deputies from the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office.
The sweeps were part of the V-Grip program aimed at getting illegal guns off the streets as well as the people who help put them there. It’s a program that was used with success in Youngstown.
Seven arrests were made as a result of the sweeps.
The other program, “See Something, Say Something” aimed at getting people to share information with authorities is expected to launch by mid-month.
