Despite the criticism the president is receiving in these difficult times, there’s something exciting stirring in the White House.
For the first time in history, the D.C. landmark and presidential home will have a black woman as the chief usher.
Jamaican born Angella Reid was named the next director of the president’s executive residence. She’s the ninth person and first woman to take the spot.
Reid will oversee the operations and activities within the White House executive residence and on the residence grounds.
The new head usher will also act as the liaison with the White House Historical Association, the Committee for the Preservation of the White House, the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts and other organizations.
Reid is not new to this sort of job. She has a 25 year resume managing hotels like the Ritz-Carlton of Pentagon City aqcross the river from D.C. (in Northern Virginia).
