Fire and hazmat crews have contained an early morning chemical leak in Akron.

10 fire units responded to the Hygenic Corporation at 1245 Home Road to stop a 100 pound cylinder from leaking chlorine.

Several ambulances also responded, after employees reported the leak.

One worker has been transported to the hospital with injuries. The leak comes just one day after the cylinder had been changed at the facility.

Akron Police have blocked off the scene and shut down the northbound lanes of Home Avenue at Tallmadge Avenue. Southbound lanes remain open.
