CLEVELAND – I thought I had seen everything, until today. Wednesday was the first really cold wet rainy snowy morning of this 2011-12 winter season — and I happened upon two guys surfing off of Edgewater Beach.

They had large kite-like sails with strings attached to controls and a surfboard with hoop holders for their feet.

The wind was at 30 knots. Waves were rushing ashore as fast as they could form from the north east wind, but these guys were having the time of their lives.

They wore insulated suits that were waterproof and told me that the only thing cold was their necks.

I give them credit for going out and doing their thing, and showing me that extreme sports are really possible anywhere — if you’re crazy enough.
