John 14:1-6 reads, “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

Last week, you might recall, that we continued in our series titled “Why Jesus Must Come Back,” and we dealt with why THE IMMINENCY OF JESUS’ COMING CALLS FOR AWARENESS. The week before that, we dealt with why Jesus’ coming calls for alertness. This week, we are going to talk about why THE IMMINENCY OF JESUS’ COMING CALLS FOR ACTIVITY. In case you missed last week, we talked about why THE IMMINENCY OF JESUS’ COMING CALLS FOR AWARENESS, and we discussed three things that we should be aware of as we await the second coming of Christ. Allow me to share those briefly:

I. WE MUST BE AWARE OF ALL THAT CHRIST HAS DONE FOR US IN THE PAST.

I Corinthians 15:1-4 reads: “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.”

II. WE MUST BE AWARE OF THE GREATNESS OF WHAT HE WILL DO FOR US IN THE FUTURE – THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST

1 Thessalonians 4:13-15 says, “But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.”

III. WE MUST BE AWARE THAT ONE DAY WE ALL WILL FACE THE SON OF GOD IN JUDGEMENT.

2 Corinthians 5:9-10, “Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.”
