The school year is coming to an end, which means it’s report card time. It pays to get good grades. A few northeast Ohio companies are rewarding students for getting A’s on their report cards.

Krispy Kreme will give you a free glazed donut for every A you earn, up to six per student, through 5th grade.

“Oh I didn’t know that one. Hey yeah, go to Krispy Kreme, grab a donut. Then come back here and get a movie. You have your treat and a movie,” said Tracie Jeffery, a faithful Family Video customer.

In June, Family Video gives away free overnight rentals for every A in a core class. And, it’s not just the little ones who can take advantage.

“The report card program is for absolutely everybody who attends school, whether it be kindergarten with pluses and minuses. Hopefully pluses. It could be college students who bring their report card. They get A’s. And of course middle school and high school as well,” said Kristin Skrinyer, the District Manager at Family Video.

Rewarding high achievers has been a tradition at Family Video for nearly three decades. “The past year we donated over $2 million. We’re hoping to exceed that and keep on going with it, by giving a ton of free rentals, free movies, free games the entire month,” said Skrinyer.

From blockbusters to the baseball diamond, students who hit a home run on their report card, earning A’s and B’s, can score two free tickets to a Tribe game, by enrolling in the Cleveland Indians High Achievers program.

The perks come as a surprise to many parents. “I never knew they had this program. If i did, I would have been bringing my grandkids and my daughter because they both get good grades in school,” said Shawan Brewer of Cleveland.
