For the first time in about 20 years, the local youth choir, the Singing Angels, will be competing!

They’ll be representing Cleveland in the World Choir Games Competition being held in Cincinnati this July 4th.

Three hundred-sixty choirs from 48 different countries will be competing in the sing-off, considered to be the choir Olympics for this young group.

14-year-old Paige Anderson has been with the choir for six years and said, “I think it’s a great experience and even if we don’t win, I know we tried really hard.  I know there are a lot of choirs in the world that are competing for this. I’m just really excited for this big event.”

A few years older, 18-year-old Grant Johnson said, “We’re really excited to see the other choirs.  We’re practicing really hard to make sure we sound our best.”

Singing Angels Choir Director, Charles Eversole, said the choir’s repertoire will include James Taylor and the song Ave Maria.  Eversole said, “This is just an excellent opportunity to meet people from all over the world and we’re really excited to get to represent Cleveland and the United States!”
