Carnival Cruise officials apologized Tuesday for the crisis onboard the Carnival Triumph, the ship stranded in the Gulf of Mexico after a fire. The cruise line said it will get the 4,200 passengers onboard — who have reported worsening conditions — home as quickly as possible.
4. Earthquake Hits Rural Nevada
A moderate earthquake hit rural Nevada late Tuesday afternoon near the California border. The U.S. Geological Survey says the 4.9 magnitude quake was followed by two smaller ones. There were no immediate reports of damage.
