Every Saturday for the last six years Denise Toth and her helpers spend over ten hours preparing food in the kitchen. They make pasta and other foods that will be quickly eaten by people she doesn’t even know.
“We cook 100 hot meals every Saturday. We take it out under the bridges and into the wood where people live in tents” said Toth.
Her organization is called Restored Path Ministry. It is a non-profit mobile organization that provides hot meals and emergency supplies to the homeless population living on the streets of Cleveland, Ohio.
“I don’t do it for myself. I do it for them. It’s a good feeling to help someone out” said Toth.
As Cleveland continues to struggle with a poor economic climate, the issue of poverty, which leads to homelessness, has become a serious problem.
One third of the city’s population lives in poverty, many of whom are retired veterans.
