1. 3.1 Magnitude Earthquake Hits California

A 3.1 magnitude earthquake hit the Lone Pine, California region overnight. There were no immediate reports of injury or damage.

2. WHO Says No Proof of Bird Flu in China

The World Health Organization said Monday that there is no proof that a bird flu virus is being transmitted between people in China. The number of confirmed cases of the H7N9 bird flu virus has risen to at least 21, with six deaths.

3. Top Commanders Cancel Travel to Monitor NKorea Situation

South Korea’s top military commander and the top US military commander have both cancelled travel plans so that they can remain in the region as the situation with North Korea escalates.

4. Over 100 Skiers Evacuated in Vermont

More than 100 skiers had to be evacuated from a broken chair lift at a Vermont ski resort over the weekend. The Sugarbush ski patrol spent about two hours using a rope swing to lower people one at a time. Nobody was injured.
