This season’s cold, snowy weather is providing a big boost to business at local ski areas.

“We really needed it,” said Boston Mills / Brandywine Marketing Manager Steve Mackle.  “The last few years have been kind of down. So we’re happy that people can take advantage of the weather this year.”

Mackle said hours are being extended for the New Year’s holiday week to accommodate the crowds. Exact hours of operation can be found at this Boston Mills/ Brandywine website link.

According to Mackle, the owners of BMBW, Missouri based Peak Resorts, have upped their investment in northeast Ohio. Last November, Peak Resorts acquired the Alpine Valley Ski Area in Chesterland, Ohio and have made $2.5 million in improvements to the Geauga County facility.

Both Alpine Valley and BMBW will have snow tubing runs as well as upgraded snowmaking capacity and physical facilities.
