Paul Walker’s character of Brian O’Conner will be retiring in the upcoming Fast and Furious 7 movies as the filmmakers decided this was the best plan of action following his untimely death.

According to Vibe, the footage of Walker that was already shot in the film will be used and worked into the movie now. Additional footage and scenes will then be shot to fully exit O’Conner from the series. Perhaps these scenes will be shot with a body double, or filled in with CGI, although nothing has been announced.

Walker’s brother Cody was rumored to be called in to finish the deceased actor’s scenes, but that has not materialized as well. Cody is not a stranger to film sets and has done some stunt work in films.

“Right now, all of us at Universal are dedicated to providing support to Paul’s immediate family and our extended ‘Fast & Furious’ family of cast, crew and filmmakers,” a release from the studio said a few days after Walker’s accident. “At this time we feel it is our responsibility to shut down production on ‘Fast & Furious 7’ for a period of time so we can assess all options available to move forward with the franchise.”

“We are committed to keeping ‘Fast & Furious’ fans informed, and we will provide further information to them when we have it. Until then, we know they join us in mourning the passing of our dear friend Paul Walker,” it continued.

The actor was reprising his role as Brian O’Connor, a character he had played in five of the six other movies.
