People honored the legacy of civil rights pioneer Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with several commemorations held across Northeast Ohio on Sunday.

Reverend Dr. Otis Moss preached at Trinity Cathedral in Cleveland on Sunday morning. He described to the crowd how Dr. King lived up to his commitment to non-violent protest.

Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland held its 37th annual Dr. King Celebration. The free event featured a performance from the Cleveland Philharmonic Orchestra.

Larry Fulton, a junior at Hawken High School, was invited to speak because he won a statewide competition honoring Dr. King last year. Fulton said it is important for people to see how Dr. King’s lessons are still relevant today.

On Sunday evening, the Cleveland Orchestra held a sold-out concert at Severance Hall to honor Dr. King.
