To some, it’s a day of service.  To others, it’s about remembrance.  And to many, it’s about education.

However you celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day, there are plenty of opportunities around town to enhance your experience.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is recognized on the third Monday of January, around the time of King’s Jan. 15 birthday.

Here are a few of the events planned for the coming days:

Cleveland Orchestra Food Drive

WHEN:  Jan. 20

WHERE:  Severance Hall, 11001 Euclid Ave., Cleveland

Donation bins will be placed in the lobbies one hour prior to the concert.  Guests are invited to bring unexpired, unopened, non-perishable items to benefit the Lakewood Hunger Network.

East View United Church of Christ’s Breakfast and Essay Awards Program

WHEN:  Monday, Jan. 20 @ 9 a.m.

WHERE:  East View Church, 15615 Chagrin Blvd., Shaker Heights

Judge Michael J. Ryan will speak on “What Can Be Done to End Racial Profiling?”  Breakfast is served at no charge but a freewill offering will be taken.
