East Cleveland Mayor Gary Norton tells 19 Action News the city is downsizing. Norton says this is designed to save money and make the city run more efficiently.
“As a need to make our operations a little bit leaner and to promote better programming at the Martin Luther King Center.”
A total of seven people are losing their jobs.
Norton says the city is eliminating an executive assistant and a program coordinator within the Parks and Recreation Department.
The Building and Housing Department will merge with the Community Development Office, eliminating three positions.
A city custodian position will be eliminated and a food service aide at the City’s Senior Center will lose their job as well.
