The eyes are the window to the soul, but they are also two of the most used organs within the body.  One of our most important senses is the sense of sight, and during our active hours of the day, we put much strain on our eyes by focusing on bright computer screens, staying up late hours into the night texting or surfing the web and by exposing our eyes to UV rays from the sun.  It is easy to take our eyes for granted and to ignore their health until problems arise, but you don’t have to wait until something is wrong to keep your eyes in the best shape possible.  Here are a few tips on how to keep the eyes healthy.

1. Place a screen protector over your computer.

We live in a technological world now where we are constantly looking at a computer screen or the screens of our smart phones.  To protect your eyes from the harshness of the backlight, use a screen protector that reduces the amount of glare on both your computer and smart phone.  Amazon.com sells these protectors for a very affordable price. Your eyes will thank you for the purchase later.

2. Get more sleep.

Everyone is in the hustle and bustle of the grind towards success, but neglecting sleep in the process can take a toll on the strength of your eyes.  Make time to put more sleep on your schedule whether you dedicate a few minutes throughout the day to taking 15 minute cat naps, or give yourself a cut-off time for work to be completed at night to get more rest during quiet hours.  When your eyes are rested, they feel less heavy and more able to focus on the objects around you without delay or cloudiness.
