“We hear the outcry from the street. The blood. And it’s time for us as the body of Christ to answer the call.” Pastor Renae Moore and her husband Pastor Edwin Moore of Way of Escape Ministries in Cleveland, are uniting the faith based community to help stop the violence in the city of Cleveland.

Christians Against Violence is an effort to find solutions and hold churches accountable for being a voice for change. Tonight’s rally at the Michael Zone Recreation Center is a step in that direction.

“There’s a disconnect between the church and the city officials, between the church and the community, and if we’re going to be successful in curbing the violence in the city, we’ve got to stick together, says Pastor Edwin Moore.

The crowd circled in prayer, acknowledging that violence is not a black or white thing, but a “people” thing.

“When you’re talking about babies, the innocent bystander, right now it’s lawlessness. And these young men out here who are shooting and killing, they need to know that this is not right, ” says Pastor Judah Early of the Mt. Hebron Missionary Church in Cleveland Heights.
