Hundreds of protesters gathered at Public Square in response to police-involved shootings in Cleveland, most recently, a Saturday incident where a 12-year-old boy was shot and killed.

The group gathered at Public Square at 3 p.m. and moved to a pavilion outside the Cudell Recreation Center at 5 p.m.

The boy, Tamir Rice, was shot by a Cleveland police officer Saturday afternoon.

Officers responded to the recreation center to a call of a child waving a gun.

Police say the suspect was in possession of an “airsoft” type replica gun which resembles a semi-automatic pistol.

The officer shot the 12 year old in the torso, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office. He was transported to MetroHealth Mediacal Center where he later died.
