Tamir Rice, the 12-year-old boy who was shot and killed by a Cleveland police officer at the Cudell Recreation Center, was laid to rest Wednesday morning.

His funeral began at 11 a.m. at the Mount Sinai Baptist Church at 7510 Woodland Ave. in Cleveland.

Tamir was shot and killed by police who were responding to a call of a gunman outside Cudell.

A teacher who taught Tamir for several months at Marion C. Seltzer Elementary School spoke at the services.

She described him as as “well liked and knew a lot of students at his school” but wasn’t without his challenges or disappointments in academics, she said.

She finished by facing Tamir’s mother and said, “I thank you for your son’s life. He will be greatly missed.”
