Monday night, a roundtable discussion explored next steps after Tamir Rice, 12, was shot and killed by Cleveland police. The event was also meant to address the Department of Justice findings that Cleveland Police use excessive force against citizens.

The event was entitled “Will Cleveland Become the Next Ferguson?” The 7 p.m. roundtable, held at The Word Church, brought city leaders and citizens together. The event sought to discuss how Cleveland moves past both news-making events with a plan.

Panelists included Mayor Frank Jackson, Chief of Police, Calvin Williams, Ashland Theological Seminary Professor Dr. William Myers and Olivet Institutional Baptist Church Pastor Dr. Jawanza Colvin.

More questions than answers were brought up. “Will the city need two more years to investigate Tamir’s death?” for example, was written in the community notification about the forum.
