President Barack Obama is proposing two years of free tuition at community colleges nationwide.
The President made the announcement in a video posted to Facebook Thursday night. He will detail his plan on Friday at a community college in Tennessee.
“It’s something that we can accomplish, and it’s something that will train our workforce so that we can compete with anybody in the world,” he said in the video.
Obama said his proposal is for “everybody who is willing to work for it.”
To qualify, students would need a C+ average, go to school at least half-time and make steady progress toward their degree.
Tracy Green, vice-president for strategic and institutional development at Lorain County Community College said she welcomes the potential influx of students.
