Heinen’s will open a downtown grocery Feb. 25, the company reports.

The 33,000-square-foot, three-story grocery store will open inside the historic former Ameritrust rotunda at the corner of East 9th Street and Euclid Avenue.

Downtown Cleveland Alliance Chief Executive Officer Joe Marinucci said he is enthusiastic about Heinen’s coming to downtown Cleveland.

Marinucci said the downtown neighborhood is currently made up of about 11,000 residents, but he believes because of a series of development projects like the new Heinen’s location, that number will grow to about 14,000 within the next 18 months.

“That rotunda has been vacant for many years. Through the market, people are going to be able to touch that all throughout the course of a day,” explained Marinucci.
