There’s a new crack down on scrap metal crooks as the Ohio Courts Network is stepping up prevention. Scrap metal dealers are getting more help.

It’s a new data-sharing program similar to the “Do Not Fly” list with the airlines, but this time it’s a “Do Not Buy” list that shops can refer to.

The Ohio Supreme Court and the Ohio Department of Public Safety are providing a list of those who have been convicted of illegal metal theft.

There are 270,000 theft convictions from 196 courts collected by the Ohio Courts Network.

The Department of Public Safety is working with local police and non-participating courts to include data not provided through the network.
