The Ohio Task Force on Community-Police Relations met for the first time at Cleveland State University Tuesday.
The task force is charged with coming up with recommendations to improve relations between law enforcement in the state and the communities they serve.
The four hour forum included testimony from both professionals and the public.
The task force is co-chaired by former State Senator Nina Turner of Cleveland who is also the mother of police officer.
“For me this is more about being the mother of an African-American son,” said Turner. “And seeing African-American males go through this. Then my son by perspective has lived both sides of this.”
