The Tamir Rice shooting has sparked students in the Akron area to work together with the police department to make sure a similar tragedy does not happen in their community.

Starting next week, every middle and high school student in Akron will be getting this two-sided card telling them how to deal with police. The group behind this project consists of mostly students like Ryan Hall, who joined Peacemakers almost four years ago.

“Honestly, my mom told me I needed extracurriculars before I go to college,” he said.

Hall had no idea when he joined he would be part of a movement to help the community relate to the Akron police. He and a group of about 100 students created how to cards that they will get out to the schools and eventually the entire community.
