President Barack Obama told a crowd of City Club members at the Global Center for Health Innovation that middle class economics works during his Cleveland visit on Wednesday.

He claimed the economy has rebounded on his watch.

“We’re in the middle of the largest streak of private job growth. Sixty-six consecutive months, five straight years and 12 million new jobs,” said President Obama.

Before his speech, the President visited MAGNET, an organization that promotes manufacturing in Northeast Ohio.

Though the White House said he would use the speech to propose three specific plans to help manufacturing, he did not mention them directly.

The programs would be almost a half billion dollars of public and private investment in an industrial center to help develop fabrics for military uniforms, to build more centers in a manufacturing partnership network and to help small companies get technology and techniques needed to get into the supply chain for projects and products.
