The Cleveland Cavaliers may have been without the services of power forward Kevin Love, who was nursing a back injury suffered in Sunday’s 87-86 win over the Philadelphia 76ers, but his absence meant other players had to step up against the Miami Heat at Quicken Loans Arena Thursday night.
And step up those players did, as the Cavaliers (49-27) had three starters — small forward LeBron James, point guard Kyrie Irving and shooting guard J.R. Smith — and one reserve — shooting guard Iman Shumpert — each score in double figures en route to a 114-88 victory over the Heat (34-41), whom Cleveland could very well see again in the first round of the NBA Playoffs later this month.
The teams split the series, 2-2, with each protecting home-court advantage. The Cavaliers have now won 17 straight on their home floor.
