The Cleveland Indians will donate new catchers’ gear to the Garfield Heights baseball league following a newsnet5.com report that some of their equipment was stolen from a storage shed.

The Indians, along with the help of Louisville Slugger, will donate the gear to players and coaches at Donovan Park at 6 p.m. Thursday.

newsnet5.com was the first to report that about 50 aluminum bats, 10 sets of catchers equipment and other items, some of which were only two years old, were taken from the league’s storage unit earlier this month. About 120 kids between the ages of 6 and 15 play in the league.

Several members of the community also stepped up to donate after hearing the story.
