Cleveland Police Chief Calvin Williams said Cleveland patrol officer Michael Brelo could still face serious disciplinary charges related to his role in the November 2012 Cleveland police shooting.
The city put its review of the shooting on hold during Brelo’s voluntary manslaughter trial. Brelo was found not guilty Saturday.
13 officers fired 137 bullets during the shooting at Heritage Middle School in East Cleveland.
Brelo fired 49 of the shots.
The city’s Critical Incident Review Committee will determine whether the 13 officers violated department policies and procedures when they opened fire on Timothy Russell, 43, and Malissa Williams, 30 after the pair led police on a 23-minute high speed chase.
If the committee find the officers broke departmental rules, the consequences range from a written warning to termination.
