T.D. Jakes gets emotional during a special birthday tribute from his family at The Potter’s House Dallas Sunday, June 7, 2015

Bishop T.D. Jakes is used to bringing the masses to tears with his sermons, but Sunday morning, a birthday tribute left him blubbering.

The Potter’s House Dallas mega pastor, who officially turns 58 Tuesday, June 9, got an early celebration.

“You know, I’m the kind of person it’s hard to wreck me real good, but y’all got me real good this morning. I’m so blessed and so grateful,” he said, struggling to compose himself.

Before verbally expressing the dual sense of overwhelm and gratitude he felt, Jakes was serenaded by some of gospel’s finest recording artists: Fred Hammond, Micah Stampley and Tamela Mann.

He was also treated to YouTube clips of previous interviews and sermons, and watched live interpretive dances.

During his comments he said, “Wow, y’all are amazing. I feel like I got to attend my funeral and didn’t have to die.”

While the well-known pastor enjoyed all the highlights and moments, none evoked the same emotion as his entire family on the Potter’s House platform, embracing him.
