It’s a battle of the sexes when it comes to air conditioning and a new study reveals why so many women are freezing at the office.

Why do you have to keep your snuggie in your desk drawer?

Because the thermostat is set for men, a new study says.

Glass ceilings? Wage gaps? Now thermostats are another tool of workplace inequality.

The new study, called Energy Consumption in Building and Female Thermal Demand , shows that women on average produce 30 percent less heat than men. They’re also smaller, usually have less muscle and, honestly wear clothes that show more skin than men do.

But optimum office temperature was formulated in the 1960s and was based on the so-called metabolic rate of a 154 pound, 40-year-old male office worker.
