CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) –

Cleveland is experiencing a record number of homicides.

The City recorded 83 killings up until Sept. 7, then 17 more homicides in the past month.

The number of murders hit 100 today versus a 102 total criminal homicides for all of 2014.

The latest victim, a 30-year-old Brian Holmes, was killed at 10625 Woodland Avenue Unit B. Officers were called to the scene around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.

When police arrived, Holmes had been shot in his chest. He was pronounced dead at MetroHealth Medical Center.
