Monday night’s Cleveland City Council meeting revealed changes coming to the West Side Market.

City council approved a plan to spend $86,000 a year to add armed guards to the market.

As a part of that ordinance and possible future ordinances, shoppers will have to pay for parking.

Councilman Joe Cimperman said the fees would likely be a couple dollars and may only kick in after the vehicle has been parked for several hours.

He also said shoppers won’t have to pay until after parking lot construction is finished in 2017.

Cimperman said he hopes the fees will free up parking spaces for market shoppers by discouraging others who may be going to the casino or an Indians game from leaving their car in the lot all day.
