Kansas is the No. 1 overall seed in the 2016 NCAA tournament, joined on the top line by North Carolina, Virginia and Oregon.

Michigan State, surprisingly, fell to the No. 2 seed line along with Villanova, Xavier and Oklahoma.

With more bubble teams than usual late into Selection Sunday weekend, there was great curiosity surrounding the committee’s final inclusions. Vanderbilt and Wichita State will meet in the First Four, as will Michigan and Tulsa. Monmouth — which charmed America with its big wins and bigger-personality bench — did not make the field; neither did Valparaiso or Saint Mary’s, meaning the Division I men’s basketball committee did not err on the side of mid-majors who faltered in their conference tournaments.
