Terri Heckman is the Executive Director of the Battered Women’s Shelter of Summit and Medina counties.  She says protection orders are valuable tools, but victims need to do more to make them work.

Have safe shelter in place and contact a domestic violence crisis hotline to have someone guide you through the safety plan process.
